Working as a clinical psychologist can be enormously challenging, as well as deeply rewarding. Sometimes, it’s overwhelmingly sad.
Today is definitely one of those days. I’ve found out that several residents have passed away, due to COVID-19, at one of the two nursing homes where I provide psychological services.
I feel simply heartbroken. I become very attached to the residents whom I see each week. Knowing that these individuals died alone is horrific.
I can only take comfort in knowing that their earthly suffering has now come to an end. I’m bracing myself to learn of even more deaths, unfortunately.
