Sleeping as an Escape

Some of us might not be aware that excessive sleeping can be an indicator of clinical depression. Individuals who are suffering from increased depressive symptoms frequently exhibit changes in their sleeping habits; sometimes. this is characterized by insomnia, especially sleep-termination insomnia.

On other occasions, depression is characterized by excessive sleeping. Sleeping too much provides a temporary respite, or escape, from those upsetting issues that are plaguing someone who is depressed.

It’s very important to pay attention to any changes that have taken place in your sleeping habits. Not sleeping adequately, or sleeping excessively, are both problematic.
