This morning, I drove in a winter wonderland to the nursing home where I provide psychological services each Tuesday. I expected to see the table where I typically sit to do my progress notes for residents whom I’ve seen. Instead, I saw a new desk in the area where the table previously was.
It’s very challenging to be a part-time consultant at a nursing home. You almost never feel like you fit in with the other full-time staff members. This has been a common theme throughout the many years that I have been a contracted clinical psychologist in nursing homes.
I’ll next ask the facility’s social worker about an alternate place for me to set up each Tuesday.
