I just finished writing my progress notes for the sessions that I completed with the residents whom I saw this past Friday. Thankfully, I still have a good memory for capturing what specific information they shared during our sessions.
I don’t write any notes during sessions themselves, since it’s important for me to focus my attention on my residents. I’m very grateful that I’m capable of remembering what was shared during sessions conducted.
This past Friday, I had a very lengthy session with a resident who was relatively recently diagnosed with MS. I chose to share my own diagnosis of MS with him, as well as my extensive research and knowledge base of this disease.
However, when writing the progress note for this session, I carefully avoided mentioning my personal diagnosis of MS. For a variety of reasons, I have chosen not to disclose my diagnosis to my employer.
