I’ve recently been experiencing several challenges associated with teaching. I gave my first examination in my Principles of Psychology class. Unfortunately, the majority of my students failed this test!
Instead of simply going over this exam in our next class, I’m going to have my students break into small groups, and attempt to locate the correct answers themselves. This is a much more active, engaged way for them to learn this material.
On a much happier note, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by my Abnormal Psychology students’ performances during their small group presentations. Their presentations have been very professional.
This afternoon, I have a chance to get together with other professors at a nearby college where I teach. I’m really looking forward to this get-together, since being an adjunct professor is often a very lonely position.
