Listening to My Body

It’s very important for all of us to listen to our bodies. If you’re juggling the management of chronic illnesses, it’s even more important.

Today, I don’t have to teach a class, nor do I need to see residents. It’s such a relief to have this kind of day!

Ordinarily, I wake up between 5 and 5:30 a.m. I decided to just allow my body to rest this morning. I ended up waking up at 9 a.m.

We all need downtime. It’s critically important for restoring ourselves mentally, emotionally, and physically. So much of my time is spent focusing on others, including demands from both residents and students.

Today, I’m going to take some much-needed time for myself. I’m looking forward to getting a haircut this afternoon.
