I’ve spent many years providing psychological assessment and intervention services for geriatric residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Despite initially being several decades younger than these residents, I’ve felt that my multiple chronic illnesses have allowed me to better understand their difficulties with adjustment to physical decline.
As I’ve aged, I have felt even more of a connection with residents who are coping with diminished physical capacities.
I truly enjoy working with geriatric residents. This patient population is more diverse, as well as more challenging, than I originally assumed.
