Juggling Dual Roles

Today was yet another installment of trying to delicately balance my dual roles of doctor and patient. One of my colleagues wants to schedule a time to meet with the supervisor of an assisted living facility where I’m interested in initiating provision of psychological services.

However, the tentative dates that my colleague suggested happen to conflict with when I next need to see my neurologist. Originally, I was scheduled to see my neurologist in three months. Since I have been repeatedly experiencing severe post-injection reactions to Copaxone, my neurologist wants to see me much sooner.

It’s always very challenging to balance being both a doctor, as well as a patient. Thankfully, it’s usually possible to rearrange my work schedule in order to attend a medical appointment, or vice-versa.
