Choose Your Focus

Today, I started thinking about all of the good news that I have recently received from healthcare providers. Despite my multiple, chronic medical challenges, there remains much for which to be thankful.

Despite having been diagnosed with an endometrial polyp, I found out that I do not have uterine cancer.

Despite needing yet another throat dilatation surgery for subglottic stenosis, I found out that I have healed remarkably well.

Despite being extremely nearsighted, I found out that my eyes are currently very healthy.

Despite having been diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm that was incidentally found in 2013, my most recent imaging results show that it is stable.

Yes, there are multiple challenges in my life. Nevertheless, there are also so very many blessings.

It’s critically important to remember to reflect upon what goes right in our lives, as opposed to exclusively focusing on what has gone wrong.
