Today, I was scheduled to complete an initial psychological evaluation for a resident of the nursing home where I provide psychological services. As with all new referrals, I thoroughly review the resident’s medical history and list of medications prior to their initial evaluation.
I reviewed the medical history of a new referral. She has multiple diagnoses, including MS. I walked into her room, and introduced myself.
This resident promptly refused to complete an initial psychological evaluation. In fact, she angrily ordered me out of her room, shouting that I leave immediately.
Just another day in my life as both doctor and patient. This same resident has been diagnosed with MS. I’ve been experiencing increased MS symptoms, including fatigue, spasticity, and paresthesias all during this afternoon.
