You Don’t Look Sick

I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve heard people say that I don’t look sick. Actually, they are entirely correct.

I’m not sick. I’m chronically ill. There is a tremendous difference between the two.

Sickness goes away. Chronic illness does not.

Symptoms of sickness can be alleviated by receiving extra rest. Many symptoms of chronic illness persist even after receiving additional sleep.

Sicknesses can be cured. Chronic illnesses can, at the very best, be managed.

Sicknesses can make you feel utterly miserable, but you can hold onto the hope of getting better. Chronic illnesses keep radically altering the path of your life, indefinitely.
