Yesterday, I took my first full day’s dose of Amantadine. My neurologist recently prescribed 100 mg., bid., for relief of my debilitating MS fatigue Typically, I awaken feeling very exhausted. Each day, I struggle to do the simplest of tasks, including just showering and getting dressed.
Yesterday, however, was noticably different! I took 100 mg. of Amantadine at 7 a.m. By 8 a.m., I noticed that I was already feeling more alert, both physically and mentally. After showering, I didn’t have my usual, overwhelming urge to just lie down. I taught my General Psychology class yesterday; it meets from 12 to 2 p.m. I must admit that I felt much more cognitively alert throughout this entire lecture.
Driving back home, I could actually focus on what I needed to do for the remainder of the day, rather than experiencing that all-too-familiar crushing exhaustion that makes even driving difficult.
I took a second dose of Amantadine (100 mg) in the early afternoon. It allowed me to have enough energy to enjoy attending an evening birthday party. I’m feeling most encouraged by these very promising results.
