It’s hard to believe, but true: there’s only one more lecture for me to deliver for this semester of teaching Abnormal Psychology. After that, my students will be giving small group presentations in class.
I’ve really enjoyed teaching this college course. I freely admit that it has been very challenging to do so, for multiple reasons. After all, this is the very first time that my teaching has been interrupted by needing to have throat dilatation surgery. I also recently developed strep throat.
One of my students surprised me with a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies after today’s class. She said that she had felt bad about recently missing several classes, and she admitted that she has been struggling with feeling depressed.
It was so rewarding to have her say that she has liked having me as a professor, and that she has really learned a lot this semester. How truly ironic to hear these very words, given that this professor herself has had her own very intense struggles with depression.
