This morning, I have been violently clearing my throat. For hours, actually. This consistently happens whenever my subglottic stenosis worsens. I experience the maddening sensation of having something block my airway.
Clearing my throat does help, temporarily. It helps expel some of the excess phlegm that accompanies subglottic stenosis. Nevertheless, it’s utterly exhausting to engage in a marathon session of throat-clearing.
My day has barely begun, yet I already feel like I have been completely run over. Of course, my subglottic stenosis is but one of the chronic illnesses with which I’m dealing.
The other conditions don’t politely step aside while my subglottic stenosis decides to take center stage. So, I remind myself to just take today one hour at a time.
