Upon hearing that I have a history of receiving chemotherapy, most people ask, “What type of cancer did you have?” Most have been very surprised to hear me say that, in fact, I’ve never even been diagnosed with any type of cancer.
Chemotherapeutic agents have been prescribed, off-label, to suppress severe levels of inflammation in autoimmune disorders. I’ve been prescribed both oral and intravenous forms of chemotherapy.
The side effects of receiving chemotherapy are absolutely brutal. For me, the debilitating fatigue was the single most distressing symptom. I also experienced severe nausea, loss of appetite, and hair loss.
Unfortunately, chemotherapy didn’t suppress my overly aggressive immune system. As a result, my specialists and I decided to discontinue my reception of chemotherapy.
